Billboard AD

MONDAY 10.19.09  - This is offensive and should be removed!  Hollywood thinks that it can do what ever it wants to any image...THEY ARE WRONG!




















My name is Sara Vieira. I am from Brazil and today I saw the 2012 Billboard AD. I am very offended by that image. I am sure every Catholic person will be as well!

I think it's disrespectful to have the image of Christ the Redeemer like that on the streets! It's very disturbing and I would like for the people responsible at Sony to take it down immediately!! Not just the billboard at Hollywood and La Brea, but ALL OF THE BILLBOARDS with the image of Jesus Christ!  I am sure every person in Brazil and the Catholic Church will agree with me as well.

I understand that America is a free country and the majority doesn't believe in any religion. Well, I do! I am sure my God will be okay in 2012... He was known for walking on water but the image SONY has created on the billboard is very disturbing to all religious people everywhere.

I am a Web designer and I would be happy to help the Sony Print Marketing department come up with a different concept for their billboard ad campaign.  Better yet.. Why don't you use YOUR Statue of Liberty instead of messing with my country?

    With all the horrible things going on in the world...what are you doing worrying about something that is fiction?? If you are worried about your religion go to your church and do something. Movie have dipicted things being destroyed for years. And I am religious, but I choose to worry about people not icons...thanks. Jean

    First and formost i would like to let you know that i am a catholic who does go to chuch and prays as is my wife who is the church chior director. We both feel that there is nothing wrong with the ad. It is just creative advertising to grab attention and get people curious about the movie. I think you need to worry about more important things going on in the world other that a movie advertisement. What about the other landmarks that are destroyed in the film? Should i be offended when Los Angeles is hit by a meteorite in the movie? Of course not! Its not something thats gonna stop me from seeing this movie. If youre board, maybe you should try reading a book instead of bothering about something so stupid.

    Here here Chris and Jean, instead of being so easily offended like a child, go out an make a difference in the community(or Brazil since you care more for the country you are from than the one that you are in and is giving you opportunities). If people stopped being offended by every little thing we would live in a better world.

    Why don't you spend your time doing something more productive? Instead of being an overly PC annoyance who is offended by something that is fiction, go out and help the needy, help at a hospital or animal shelter.

    The majority of Americans do believe in spirituality and many are members of all types of organized religions. We've had movies that have shown the Statue of Liberty destroyed (displayed on marketing billboards)as well as other American and worldwide landmarks destroyed. Having a prominent landmark in Brazil knocked over is no different than the others. And by the way, I'm Portuguese and happy to see Brazil included in the movie as well.
